Another championship level performance by the defense

Michigan football has played high-level defense all season long and the Wolverines proved they are elite on that side of the ball once again.

It was a masterful performance. Iowa made a couple of explosive plays but not many. The Hawkeyes finished with less than 300 total yards and in three red-zone opportunities, came away with three points.

Every time Iowa made a play, Michigan responded. There was the David Ojabo TFL on the first big third down which forced Iowa to settle for a field goal it missed.

When Cade McNamara threw his interception, the defense held and the Wolverines never allowed Iowa to make it a one-score game following the 14-point burst by the offense in the first quarter.

Iowa tried to go tempo and it didn’t work. The Hawkeyes found success with bootlegs until Mike Macdonald adjusted. And the secondary, it was outstanding.

Guys like DJ Turner, Vincent Gray, Daxton Hill, Rod Moore — the entire crew — they were all making plays. It was fun to watch. A big-time opponent awaits but these Wolverines have already proven they are championship caliber.
