5. Aidan Hutchinson delivers a Heisman performance

This sort of goes along with the last prediction but I believe that Aidan Hutchinson plays so well Saturday night that he can’t be ignored in the Heisman conversation.

I don’t really expect him to win it. Although Charles Woodson did win the Heisman as a mostly defensive player, he played on offense and special teams. One of the most iconic plays of his career was the punt-return touchdown he scored against Ohio State, which won him the award.

Hutchinson won’t get that chance. But if he plays the way he did against Ohio State and has a similar impact — something like three sacks or a turnover play or two — he could have a very real chance to be in the mix, especially if Alabama goes down to Georgia.

We all know the saying: Those who stay will be champions. Hutchinson, along with his head coach, will prove the truth of those words Saturday in Indianapolis.

Prediction

This game reminds me a lot of Washington. Quarterback Spencer Petras is capable of making things happen and so is running back Tyler Goodson. Iowa was ranked No. 2 in the country for a reason and Kirk Ferentz is one of the best coaches in the country.

Michigan football will have to play very well to win this game. But Iowa is a good matchup for the Wolverines as long as Michigan maintains its physical brand of football.

My bet is that the Wolverines do exactly that and win their first Big Ten title since 2004.
