Michigan trending with four-star defensive backs

Michigan football’s next commitment could come as soon as Friday as a four-star defensive back in 2022, Zeke Berry will be announcing sometime that day.

Berry is out of Concord, California, and was once committed to Arizona. He opened things up again and then his recruitment became a battle between Michigan and Oregon.

But with just a day to go before the announcement, and following a massive win over Ohio State that Berry was in attendance for, Michigan football seems to have all the momentum, and it does have all the crystal ball projections (seven of them) pointing in its direction.

Here’s the scouting report on Berry from Brandon Huffman of 247 sports:

"“Can play cornerback, safety, running back or receiver, but projects best to a defensive back in college. Can come downhill and end plays with big hits and open field tackling ability, but able to run stride for stride with receivers and has tremendous ball skills, hips and quick hands. As a receiver, shows great burst when taking short passes and sticking his foot in the dirt to get in to the open field.”"

Berry runs a 4.55 in the 40 according to 247 sports and ran an 11.14 in the 100 as a junior. So his speed is solid and he would be a great addition to the 2022 class, especially at safety.

Michigan does have Damani Dent and also got a crystal ball projection to flip current Clemson commitment Keon Sabb — another safety.

The Wolverines only took one safety in the 2021 class and as Daxton Hill has shown, Michigan football loves defensive backs who can play both safety and corner, something Dent and Berry can both do.
