2. Michigan football deserves to bypass Cincinnati in the playoff rankings
This is still an overreaction that may or may not come to fruition on Tuesday night, but for now it really doesn’t matter for another two weeks. Being in the top four of the rankings is swell, but it doesn’t mean anything until December comes calling. That’s where and when Michigan has yearned to be since the inception of the playoff process.
Cincinnati is a cute story, but let’s be honest. They wouldn’t even win the B1G West.

The Bearcats are coming off one of their more impressive wins of the season. They downed SMU 48-14 and could have a trap game on their hands this coming Saturday when they take their show to East Carolina. A week later they will be in the American Athletic Conference championship game in a must-see matchup against Houston, who will be looking to knock them from the ranks of the unbeaten.
I can't stand this "it'll work itself out" thinking with the rankings. These are supposed to be who is the best after X number of weeks, not "We'll put them here for now just to see if they live up to expectations." There is no reason Michigan should be above Cincinnati in the 4 https://t.co/GDaulRoDym

Michigan, on the other hand, has everything in its sights. Their best win is at Wisconsin, who hasn’t lost since they played each other in early October. That can certainly change though if Michigan can upset goliath on its home field. That will undoubtedly trump anything that Cincinnati has done and can do moving along.
