2. Michigan basketball is not ready to compete with the big dogs

At the beginning of the season, we had high hopes and after the first two games, we figured that those hopes looked realistic, and while the Wolverines struggled at times, we pushed it aside to just be early season problems that’ll be worked out.

Fast forward three games and two losses later we question if this team even deserves to be ranked on Tuesday. We just watched this same very weekend our in-conference foe Purdue beat the crap out of North Carolina and Villanova.

Do not get me wrong, Michigan has played four tournament teams in five games. Seton Hall and Arizona are both going to go deep into the tournament this year but that does not excuse the performance or the loss.

Michigan was considered to be better this year than they were last year with more raw talent and a Senior point guard who was Sun Belt Player of the Year and so on… But five games into the season the Wolverines have already lost more than 1/2 games that they did in last year’s 24-game regular season.

Michigan at this point and time has no business being mentioned among the elite teams in the conference or the country. While it’s early and I totally agree that they can get back to a prestigious spot in the country, they have a lot of work to do and there is no denying that.
