Michigan basketball will be back in action in Las Vegas against Arizona Sunday night in the Roman Main Event Tournament championship. Here are the odds and our prediction.

The bonus of playing in early-season tournaments will be evident for Michigan basketball and the Wolverines will get to show their growth on Sunday night against Arizona.

Michigan basketball is fresh off a loss Tuesday and rebounded nicely with a win over UNLV. However, that game didn’t answer any of the questions brought up by Seton Hall and this will be more of a test for this young U-M squad.

Moussa Diabate stole the show on Saturday morning, scoring 14 points and grabbing seven rebounds. He will need to have a big impact Sunday too as Arizona is one of the biggest teams in the country and is actually bigger than Michigan.

Azuolas Tubelis is the biggest worry for Michigan defensively as the 6-foot-11 forward can just about do it all. Brandon Johns will start the game but if Michigan is going to limit the talented forward, Moussa feels like the best option.

His rebounding, length, and athleticism will be needed. Johns will also have to step up with a solid game in this sort of matchup, plus Michigan should have an edge in the backcourt and it must take advantage of that with Eli Brooks and DeVante Jones.

Arizona is ranked 28th according to Kenpom and has the 18th-rated defense. The Wildcats are especially strong at defending 2-pointers, which is a strength for Michigan with Hunter Dickinson.

It should be an interesting early-season matchup and here are the odds, as well as a prediction and how to watch the Roman Main Event tournament championship.

Michigan basketball vs Arizona Odds and Prediction

According to WynnBet, Michigan basketball is a 3.5-point favorite for tonight’s game against Arizona in Las Vegas. The over/under is 145.

Arizona wants to play at a faster pace than Michigan which is 241st in tempo according to Kenpom, while the Wildcats are ranked 40th.

Christian Koloko is a 7-foot-1 rim protector and is averaging four blocks this season. He will guard Dickinson who will get another chance to prove his game is NBA ready.

Dickinson will have to be elite. The Wolverines are also going to need Caleb Houstan to knock down some shots. If Dickinson can score inside, you can expect some double teams and that will create shots for Houstan, Eli Brooks, and DeVante Jones.

Houstan has gone a combined 2-for-17 in the last two games. Length and adjusting to college basketball is probably part of that. But he’s too good for that slump to continue.

I think Houstan will hit some big shots and Moussa will cap his trip to Vegas with a double-double as Michigan wins a tight one 70-65.
