Two QBs isn’t a bad thing

I love what Michigan football has done with its quarterbacks this season. McNamara has been the guy; the leader but McCarthy has added another dimension while getting valuable experience.

It hasn’t always been perfect as we saw against Michigan State and even on Saturday, I wish McCarthy would tuck the ball on the outside when he’s running, but he’s growing.

And the touchdown pass to Mike Sainristil is a ball McNamara has tried to complete a few times and just hasn’t. I’m still not sure why Michigan is so determined to throw the fade to 5-foot-10 Sainristil but McCarthy put it in a perfect spot.

And his touchdown run was pure Jim Harbaugh. Most quarterbacks don’t score on that play but McCarthy, looking like Harbaugh as a player, plowed his way into the end zone.

That’s the skill Michigan can take advantage of next week. That and his pinpoint accuracy. He’s the real deal but McNamara has been really good too.

Hell, he was 21 of 28 on Saturday for 259 yards and two touchdowns and it’s like no big deal. He just makes the plays he’s supposed to make and he doesn’t complain about McCarthy playing.

This team has a winning culture and that, along with quality quarterback play all year, is a big reason why Michigan football is 10-1 heading into Ohio State.
