Michigan football has weapons…a lot of them

We know Ohio State has weapons. The Buckeyes have one of the greatest offenses I have ever seen. But one thing that stood out to me watching the Wolverines Saturday was their array of playmakers.

Of course, that group only looked better with Donovan Edwards going off for 10 catches and 170 yards which set a new freshman receiving record for Michigan football. His 77-yard touchdown catch was pure speed and he will certainly give Ohio State something to think about.

A.J. Henning had a long touchdown, albeit on a return, but Andrel Anthony made an eye-opening grab, as did Mike Sainristil. Cornelius Johnson dropped a couple of balls but still caught four and Roman Wilson pulled in a 25-yard reception down the sideline.

It would be easy to forget about Haskins. He churned out just 78 yards on 20 carries but was tough as nails and helped finish a pair of key drives in the red zone.

Even at quarterback, Michigan has two guys who made an impact on Saturday. Cade McNamara is the clear starter but for the second time this season, J.J. McCarthy threw for a touchdown and ran for a touchdown in a Big Ten road game (also doing it at Wisconsin) and it was a strong showing.

But one of the biggest takeaways from the game, outside of Michigan getting a 10th-win, was that this offense is loaded with dynamic skill guys and all of them have eligibility remaining.

Haskins and maybe Erick All could be headed for the NFL next season. But most of these guys will be back and that’s an exciting thought.
