September 18th, Northern Illinois Huskies

Perhaps the most shocking out of the bunch, NIU has led a very strong campaign this season. They currently are the #1 ranked team in their division in the MAC, as well as in the MAC altogether.

Although their resume is not pristine, they are running the table in their division dropping their first conference loss in a 52-47 thriller last week against the 2nd best team in the MAC, Kent State.

Although there is not to say about NIU at the moment, they’ve played really good football since the absolute dismantling the Wolverines attributed to the Huskies, winning 5 straight after that.

They end the season with 2 underwhelming teams, vs Ball State, and at Buffalo. In the season finale, they face off to a familiar foe to the Wolverines, Western Michigan which could play a big factor in who takes the West in the MAC.

It does not sound pristine, or maybe even that impressive. But if NIU runs the table like they’re predicted to and should, Michigan could add the MAC Champion to the resume which would look good in my opinion.
