Defense: A

The defense didn’t necessarily face a high-powered Indiana offense on Saturday night. The Hoosiers were down to their fourth-string quarterback and running back.

But that’s not something Michigan can control and the Wolverines dominated. Indiana was held under 200 yards and scored just one touchdown. Outside of that, there was nothing doing.

Donaven McCulley threw for over 200 yards and two touchdowns against Maryland, but against the Wolverines, he was 10 of 24 for 88 yards and averaged under four yards per pass attempt.

Ty Fryfogle who went off on Michigan football in the 2020 game, was held without a catch and ran the ball one time for one yard.

That was an impressive effort and you have to give DJ Turner some credit for continuing to grow as a cornerback. He was solid but no one was better Saturday than the duo of David Ojabo and Aidan Hutchinson.

Ojabo notched a sack and a forced fumble, while Hutchinson was credited with four quarterback hurries. If there’s a better pass-rushing tandem in college football, I’d like to see it.

At this point, I wouldn’t be shocked if both were first-round picks in next year’s NFL draft. Hutchinson is incredible, but Ojabo is something else off the edge.
