4. Michigan’s pass rushers should have a big day

McCulley was sacked four times last week against Maryland. Pass protection has been an issue for Indiana all season. The Hoosiers are 13th in the Big Ten and 92nd nationally with 21 sacks allowed. That should play right into Michigan’s hands.

We already knew that Michigan had a dominant force in Aidan Hutchinson. However, with the emergence of David Ojabo, Michigan may have the best edge duo in the country. Both of them may have big games against the Hoosiers.

5. Indiana has regressed significantly on defense

Indiana’s defense, particularly its secondary, was the driving force behind its surprising 6-2 record last season. However, it has not been able to replicate that success.

The Hoosiers are last in the Big Ten and 105th in scoring defense, allowing 31.6 points per game. Indiana is respectable against the run, allowing 126.1 yards per game.

It will likely sell out to stop Michigan’s running game and force Cade McNamara to win the game. However, that may not be a great strategy.

Indiana has been without starting defensive backs Devon Matthews, Tiawan Mullen, Reese Taylor, and Jaylin Williams for varying degrees of length this season.

Mullen was All-Big Ten last season, but he has not been the same player this year. Mullen and Taylor are questionable for Saturday while defensive back Josh Sanguinetti is doubtful.

Whether it is because of injury or just poor performance, Indiana is 100th in passing yards allowed at 253.4 yards per game.

Cade McNamara is coming off his best game of the season with 383 passing yards against Michigan State. He may be able to build on that performance against the Hoosiers.
