Mistake-free Cade McNamara

Cade McNamara has to be more than a game manager on Saturday. He needs to complete some third-down passes and most importantly, he needs to protect the football.

Fortunately, for Michigan football, McNamara has been doing those things all season long. Michigan football is second in the Big Ten in third-down conversions at 44 percent, while Michigan State is at 36.

The Wolverines also average 442 yards of total offense and score 37 points per game, which ranks 15th in the country. McNamara has also been elite at taking care of the ball.

He has thrown just one interception this season and has taken just two sacks. He knows how to keep Michigan in good spots and he throws better than people give him credit for.

And even if his final line looks something like Wisconsin, which means less than 200 yards and a touchdown or so, he won’t throw an interception and he’ll continue his pattern of mistake-free football which in a game like this, can mean everything.
