Northwestern will struggle to score

The Wildcats are 110th in the country in points scored and despite their 3-3 record, they have only scored 30 points once this season and their second-highest total was 24 against Indiana State.

In Big Ten games, Northwestern is averaging just more than 16 points per game but was walloped on the road against Nebraska and at home versus Michigan State.

Northwestern did win at home last week against Rutgers, but beating the Scarlet Knights on your home field, as opposed to winning in the Big House, are two very different things.

And actually, I do think Northwestern will make this a fairly competitive game. It’s not one I expect to be decided by halftime.

But it’s really hard to see Northwestern scoring 20 in this game. If there are turnovers or touchdowns on special teams or defense, that can change things and it’s going to take something like that for Northwestern to get into the 20s.
