Michigan Football: JUCO DT gets expert projection to Wolverines
Michigan football hardly ever takes JUCO players but when it comes to Jeffrey M’Ba, he’s a unique instance and the Wolverines are trending already.
Life comes at you fast, which is certainly true for the newest Michigan football target Jeffrey M’Ba.
Just a few days ago, the 6-foot-6, 305-pound defensive tackle wasn’t on the radar of Michigan football fans. But he was on the radar of Michigan before.
M’Ba watched Michigan practice in France a few years ago and the Wolverines recruited him in the 2019 recruiting class when he was first supposed to play college football.
Things didn’t work out and he wound up going to community college. He was at one time going to play at St. Frances Academy for Biff Poggi — the same Biff Poggi currently on Michigan’s staff.
So there are reasons to feel good about this recruitment and here’s what M’Ba told Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider about it Michigan football:
"“If we’re being honest, we’ve talked for a long time now, I (saw) them over there and I was like, ‘wow!’ They contacted me… I want to say two months ago. (We’ve) been in contact, like I told you, for a long time. Because first they wanted me, but (after reviewing the transcript challenges), they told me, ‘No, we can’t take you.’ And then they come back to me like three weeks ago and they told me that (they) can take me. So, I was happy, and we keep talking about it.”"
M’Ba is taking a visit to Miami but is expected to be in Ann Arbor at some point soon, and some have already declared Michigan football the favorite.
EJ Holland of Rivals has put in a Futurecast pick for M’Ba already. He said he expected a decision in December and that as long he is able to transfer in, he expects him to be a Wolverine.
M’Ba is ranked as a three-star recruit by Rivals and is unranked according to 247 sports. But his offer list tells you all you need to know about his recruitment and it’s blown up in recent weeks.
The Wolverines have Kenneth Grant and Mason Graham committed in the 2022 recruiting class, but it seemed like they wanted to take three or four all along.
There is still for Deone Walker, a four-star defensive tackle from Detroit Cass Tech but he’s getting more and more interest from the SEC and he is reciprocating.
But either way, Michigan has momentum with M’Ba.
