Mertz is picked off again

In my opinion, the quarterbacks are going to decide this game. Wisconsin should have more success running the ball than it did against Notre Dame or Penn State, but the Wolverines are also a better running team than the Irish or Nittany Lions, so they’ll find room too.

Both offenses are going to be deliberate and the tempo is going to feel like an NFL game, with lots of moving clock. But at the end of the day, the quarterbacks are going to make the difference.

And Mertz hasn’t been trending in the right direction. He’s got 12 interceptions in his last eight games, including six this season.

Simply put, Mertz is going to have to reverse that trend on Saturday. He doesn’t need to be lights out and I don’t think he will be. In fact, I think he throws at least one interception on Saturday.

He’s been careless and he’ll give Michigan football multiple opportunities. I think the Wolverines come away with one interception,  but honestly, two might be the magic number in order to win.
