3. Michigan is Seeking Revenge

This is Michigan football. How Michigan football should be.

Dominating at the point of attack, winning the battle in the trenches, and playing a bend but don’t break defense. The Wolverines have abandoned the treacherous course that set them down the path of 2-4 in a 2020 shortened season.

Returning to their roots, they are primed and ready for this matchup with Wisconsin. Finally, a chance to exorcise the demons that 2020 possessed them with.

But folks, this isn’t 2018’s “Revenge Tour” encore edition. It’s a whole new squad with completely different skill sets and personalities.

Unlike that team that defeated Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Penn State before a season ending blowout in Columbus, Ohio, this edition of the Wolverines has stayed quiet. They’ve been calm. They’ve been cool. And they’ve been collected.

The blowout loss last year in a nearly empty Michigan Stadium in front of about 2,000 staffers, family members, and friends is weighing heavy on the mind. No doubt about it.

Michigan has been planning for this game and had it circled on the calendar since offseason workouts started this past winter. They will be primed and ready to exploit the Wisconsin Badgers.

The talent gap is big enough. The defense is smothering. The offense is good enough. It’s time for Michigan to win for the first time in 20 years on the road in Madison.

Maybe it’s just the homer in me talking, but I find it hard to believe that a reinvigorated Jim Harbaugh, new look staff, and this collection of team oriented players will let this one slip them by. They know what lays before them this season — a chance at playing in Indianapolis in the Big Ten Championship game for the first time. Their first step on that road?

Beat Wisconsin, and go 2-0 in Big Ten play and put the rest of the conference on notice.

This Wolverine team is hungry and they’re talented and they’ve got one thing on their mind this week.

Revenge.
