3. Michigan was due for a blindsided wake-up call.

The first three weeks of the 2021 campaign have been a feel-good story that Michigan football fans have been dreaming of since day one.

Looking invincible can make people forget that they still have problems. That’s exactly what happened in this circumstance. Nobody saw the second half of the Rutgers win coming and it brought back the unwanted feelings of 2020.

Rutgers totally controlled the third and fourth quarters in Saturday’s narrow triumph. It did what it wanted offensively by running wild on a defense that has been unshakable for the first three weeks of the season. On the flip side, Michigan couldn’t sustain a drive as the Scarlet Knights shut down their authoritative rushing prowess that worked so diligently in the first half.

The second half of this showdown has to be a lethal warning to Jim Harbaugh and his gang that you have to bring your A-game every time out, especially in the indomitable Big Ten.
