Michigan Football: 3 overreactions to the win over Rutgers
By Nick Popio
2. Rutgers is still going to be an afterthought of a program.
This is simply not true. Rutgers is trending upwards in Greg Schiano’s second year in Piscataway. We’ll learn more about the Scarlet Knights this coming week as they host Ohio State in New Jersey. Gone are the days of Rutgers just being a pushover and a guaranteed win on any given Saturday afternoon.
The next two weeks on the schedule will tell a lot about how Rutgers can be this year. If you think this is the same old Rutgers program that is a bottom feeder, then you are sadly mistaken.
The Scarlet Knights are poised to upset a school like Wisconsin or Michigan State at home and that should come as a surprise to no one if and when that time comes.
Credit has to be given to Schiano who had his bunch down 17 at the intermission and they never quit on him. This goes to show that the Scarlet Knights are a night and day difference from where they were in years past.
Going toe-to-toe with Michigan in the Big House is a moral victory that they can ease the sting of losing to the Wolverines in a tight battle.
