3. Return of the Jack Hammer

There has been much said in the almost year since Michigan football went 2-4 regarding the future of the program, and whether or not Jim Harbaugh is the man to lead the team.

It was even discussed in the offseason what amount of wins can save his job. While this whole thing could fall apart down the stretch, it sure doesn’t seem that way.

This rebound season, and this “last dance” if you will of the Jim Harbaugh era was always going to be an improvement that you saw on the field and felt in the program, not what the win total is. By all accounts, the guy that Michigan thought they were getting and thought they had when they hired him has returned. That’s right, Jim Harbaugh, the “Jack Hammer” is back folks.

Talking in his last media availability, he compared the ground game — that saw his Wolverines put up 343 yards on Washington — to General George Patton who won World War II on the ground.

Does that sound like the same corpse of a coach who patrolled the sidelines last year? Heck. No.

This is the guy who had his team fired up and ready to go week in and week out his first few years in Ann Arbor. That is exactly what Northern Illinois doesn’t want or need.

Jim Harbaugh will have his team ready to go, not looking ahead, and prepared to steamroll the Huskies. That’s exactly what should happen, and though it’s jumping the gun, that’s what will happen come Saturday.
