It wasn’t flashy, but Michigan football took charge of the Huskies in a relatively easy three-touchdown deficit.
It took a while to get going on Saturday night, but the Wolverines methodically ground down Washington into submission. On the first couple of drives, both teams were feeling each other out, until Michigan football hit the scoreboard with a confident kick from Jake Moody to break the seal. Moody connected, with room to spare, from 52 yards, and the maize and blue never trailed.
In the second Blake Corum housed a 67-yard run after a risky, yet successful fourth-down attempt in punting formation. The defense steadied the ship for the rest of the half by shutting out the Huskies to a toll of 10-0.
Michigan football opened the third with a defining drive that put the Wolverines in front by the favor of 17-0. Washington finally got on the board with a short field goal to get within two scores.
In the final stanza, the Wolverines salted it away with a 14-play drive by stepping on the throats of the Huskies.
Hassan Haskins found paydirt for his lone trip to the endzone on the night. Washington tried for a late rally and scored, but Michigan was once again too much for them to handle as Blake Corum capped off the night with his trifecta of house calls.
Michigan's offense was very conservative, often incredibly predictable, esp on first down, and on a couple drives lacked killer instinct when Washington was on the ropes.

But you can say one thing about OC Gattis's play calling: it worked, 31-10.
The winged helmets were complete in their thorough stomping of the Huskies. Michigan gets a principal win that gets some of their critics off their backs for a while. It’s one that can make Jim Harbaugh sleep well at night knowing that his young men are headed in the right direction with what remains this year.
