While Michigan football is holding a Maize Out for fans, the Wolverines will actually be showing off their new all-blue uniforms tonight.

Michigan football fans didn’t need another reason to be excited about the Wolverines matchup against Washington, but now they’ve got one.

Not only will Michigan Stadium be taking part in a Maize Out, which means all the fans wearing Maize but the Michigan football team will also wear a new uniform against Washington Saturday as the team revealed on social media Saturday afternoon.

Here’s a teaser of what Michigan football will look like tonight:

There have been rumors of Michigan football breaking out uniforms dating back to the summer when the all-blue uniforms were brought out for recruits.

That got the buzz started and it was expected that Michigan football was going to use them at some point this season and it’s happening Saturday night.

Over the years, the Wolverines have been pretty consistent with their uniforms, particularly when they are playing at home.

I’ve been a Michigan football fan now for three decades and I can’t ever remember them wearing blue pants at home or a solid color at home.

There was the game against Florida a few years back, in which the Wolverines wore all-maize uniforms. Those were a hit, but outside of that, Michigan has only worn all-white under Jim Harbaugh.

While some fans might wonder why the Wolverines are wearing blue when the entire fanbase is supposed to wear maize, if you think about it, the colors will blend plenty perfectly together.

And since a number of elite recruits are on camps for what could be the biggest recruiting weekend of Harbaugh’s tenure, it seems like a perfect time to drop these new uniforms.

What are your thoughts on going all-blue?
