Cornelius Johnson breaks out

On the offensive side of the ball for Michigan football, there are a number of breakout candidates. Cornelius Johnson is among them and I think he puts on a show Saturday.

Johnson is 6-foot-3 and he’s really stood this offseason. We all know what Ronnie Bell can do. He’s Mr. Consistent and while he’ll make his fair share of big plays across the middle, most of what Bell does is after the catch.

Johnson is a different kind of cat. He can stretch the field and we saw that a little last season. In games against Indiana and Rutgers, he went over 80 yards in each and hauled in three touchdowns.

Johnson just needs that production to translate more consistently. But he’s got a great rapport with McNamara and I don’t think any of the Western corners will be able to match up against him.

Bell might have more receptions, but Johnson will make at least one big play down the field and will hit the 100-yard mark Saturday, as well as the end zone.
