Michigan Football: 5 predictions for Wolverines vs Western Michigan
Western Michigan hangs around
One reason to worry about this matchup from a Michigan football perspective is Broncs quarterback Kaleb Eleby. Last season, he threw 18 touchdown passes in just six games (an average of three) and averaged 282 passing yards per game.
Eleby won’t have the same group of receivers he had last year but he will be throwing to Skyy Moore and Jaylen Hall, who were second and third in receptions last season.
The Michigan defense also is adapting to a new defensive scheme under Mike Macdonald. That side of the ball should be improved, but it could take a minute to get rolling.
Western Michigan knows its system and isn’t going to have any growing pains. It’s also the first game Macdonald has coordinated and although Jim Harbaugh said he’s been impressed by his DC’s play-calling, a live game is a different animal.
