Possibly the most surprising camp breakout this offseason, Nikhai Hill-Green should be on everyone’s radar as we begin the 2021 season.

As a true freshman last season, Hill-Green recorded just one tackle and didn’t have much of an impact on the field.  However, Hill-Green has reportedly been outstanding this fall camp and has already been deemed a starter by linebackers coach George Helow.

"“Nikhai had a plan this offseason, really got after it well in the weight room, changed his body and had a great camp. He’s our starting WILL linebacker right now, he’s earned the right to start.”"

The Baltimore native will be a big part of a (hopefully) much-improved defense in 2021.  Much like Edwards, Hill-Green will benefit from a game against Western Michigan, before playing Washington and entering Big Ten play.

Most importantly, Hill-Green’s performance on Saturday will be the first indicator as to whether the fall camp rumors were true, or if it was all just ‘fluff’.

Not many fans will know of Nikhai Hill-Green prior to Saturday’s game, but with a good performance, he will be on his way to becoming a household name for the Wolverines.
