Dante Moore and CJ Carr are the top targets for Michigan football in 2023 and the 2024 recruiting classes and both of them dominated Friday night.

Every Michigan football fan knows that the Wolverines have to get better play at the quarterback position if they want to compete with the best of the best.

On the recruiting trail, signing J.J. McCarthy in the 2021 recruiting class was a huge step forward. In 2022, the Wolverines are taking more of a project in Jayden Denegal. He’s a talented passer for sure, but down the road in 2023 and 2024, U-M is eying elite prospects.

In 2023, Michigan football is heavily in the mix for five-star quarterback Dante Moore. He plays at Detroit King and is ranked as one of the top QBs in the class.

On Friday night, Moore, who was started since his freshman year, was on fire, throwing for 438 yards and four touchdowns. His fourth touchdown got his team the lead with eight seconds, showing that the kid has the clutch gene too, even though Detroit King lost on a Hail Mary.

"“Oh my goodness he’s special and very, very poised,” Opposing head coach John Hebert said about Moore to 247 sports. “He can do anything. I think really, really read our coverages better than I thought we were going to get. We were looking at last year’s tape, so he’s matured I can tell. His arm strength and touch is amazing."

Moore is ranked 16th overall in the 247 sports composite rankings for the 2023 class and honestly, he’s as good as any quarterback in that class. Ohio State and Notre Dame are pushing hard, plus Penn State and others, but Michigan is in a good spot too, as long as it wins games this season.

CJ Carr is impressive too

Michigan football would also love to reel in four-star quarterback CJ Carr, who is ranked in the top 100 overall of the 247 sports rankings for 2024.

He’s the grandson of national championship-winning head coach Lloyd Carr and on Friday, he threw three touchdown passes in the Big House in a dramatic win for his high school team.

Obviously, it would be great if Michigan could land both of these elite quarterback prospects, but as you can see, they are going to be heavily recruited.

Still, you have to like the Wolverines chances with Carr at least and they are in the mix with Moore for now. But as long as they get at least one, that will be considered a win.
