No 1: 4-star DT Deone Walker

As much as it would hurt to lose Dillon Tatum, the Wolverines absolutely can’t afford to miss out on the commitment of four-star defensive tackle Deone Walker.

Not only does the 326th overall recruit in the 247 sports composite rankings for 2022 play a position of need, but outside of Tatum, he’s the top in-state recruit not committed that the Wolverines are making a strong push for.

Michigan football offered him very early in the process and it was a smart move. Walker has since blown up and at 6-foot-6, 340 pounds, the 10th-ranked player in the state of Michigan was recently offered by Alabama, who is also outside of Walter Nolen’s top three.

The Wolverines own all of Walker’s crystal ball projections but if he waits to take a visit to Alabama before committing, U-M will have reason to be nervous.

In terms of this class, Walker is a must-get and the rest of the guys on this list fall into the same category, especially if Michigan wants the kind of recruiting class we have come to expect under Jim Harbaugh.
