There’s no questioning that Michigan football has talent. But these five players need to live up to their potential in 2021 for the Wolverines to succeed.

We are now less than two weeks away from the Michigan football season starting and even though the Wolverines aren’t a preseason top-25 team, there is still optimism about this team.

Of course, Michigan football fans aren’t the only ones that are optimistic about their team. That’s the same with college football fans across the country.

Tis the season after all.

But the Wolverines have real talent. They’ve got multiple guys capable of being first-round draft picks and according to the blue-chip ratio developed by Bud Elliott of 247 sports, the Wolverines are one of the 16-most talented teams in the country.

To reach their potential this season though, the Wolverines need these five Michigan football players to live up to the hype in 2021.

Daxton Hill

The former five-star recruit has been solid in two seasons with Michigan football but he hasn’t taken the next step just yet.

Part of that could have been due to Don Brown’s defense and not being used properly. Hill has been credited with 80 tackles, two interceptions, nine passes defended, and two fumble recoveries.

Hill has been used as a safety and a cornerback in his first two seasons and I always felt his most impactful position could be nickel. He can cover, support the run, and used his speed in the box.

He’s stellar as a deep safety too and frankly when push comes to shove, he’s Michigan football’s best cover guy.

Hill just needs to make more impact plays. You win big games when your star players shine and when it matters most this season in the big games, Hill has to deliver.
