Projecting when Michigan Football will be featured on College GameDay
By Alex Hinton
Week 13 Ohio State
“The Game” is the top candidate on Michigan’s schedule to be featured on College GameDay every season. It is the best rivalry in sports.
The rivalry has been the site of College GameDay six times. The rivalry has shifted to FOX in recent years because of the Big Ten’s TV contract, but that did not stop College GameDay from visiting in 2018. However, this season it is on Michigan to make “The Game” a viable destination to host College GameDay.
Ohio State is unfortunately in the middle of a historic run. It is coming off another Big Ten title and appearance in the national championship game. This season, the Buckeyes are favored in every game to this point.
Given the amount of turnover the Buckeyes are experiencing this year and their young quarterback (likely C.J. Stroud), I think they may drop one before they visit Ann Arbor. However, even at 10-1, the Buckeyes will enter the Big House with plenty to play for.
Michigan, on the other hand, needs to bounce back this season after a rough 2020 season. However if “The Game” is a candidate to be featured on College GameDay, it is likely that the Wolverines accomplished that. Michigan probably needs to be at least 9-2 to be a candidate to host College GameDay that week.
Depending on how the division shakes, a 10-1 Ohio State and 9-2 Michigan could be playing for the Big Ten East division title and a spot in the Big Ten Championship game. If that is the case, there will be a lot of hype surrounding “The Game” again.
