That early-season game against Washington is going to be very important. The Wolverines will need momentum and it sounds like a pair of five-star recruits, Josh Conerly and Walter Nolen will be visiting that day, along with top EDGE target Joshua Josephs.

Steve Lorenz of The Michigan Insider reported Josephs would visit on Sept. 12 and here’s more on the recruitment:

"“Josephs has long been Michigan’s top target at the EDGE spot on the outside as he has shown an array of abilities on film that could make him a standout player in Mike Macdonald’s defense in Ann Arbor. The staff has prioritized him for months and hosted him for an official visit during the Victors Weekend in mid-June.”"

Josephs is ranked 564th overall in the 2022 recruiting class according to the 247 sports composite rankings, but the staff loves him. He’s also set to decide on Oct. 1, so if the visit goes well in Ann Arbor and Michigan looks the part on the field, it would seem to have a good shot to get him.

Conerly and Nolen will take more work. But it would be the second time Conerly has been on campus. It will be the third time for Nolen and if Michigan beats Washington, it certainly couldn’t hurt in the recruitment of either 5-star.

Another top target, one that Michigan football fans might not know as much about is Lander Barton. The four-star linebacker from Utah is also visiting on Sept. 12. The Wolverines wanted him badly at the BBQ but this is a start, although it’s probably too late to beat out Utah.
