Michigan Football: Key tidbits from the past week in recruiting
There’s a lot going on with Michigan football as the Wolverines ramp up for the season but here’s a quick recap of the past week in recruiting.
The Michigan football team is in full-camp mode as the is now less than 20 days away from the season-opener against Western Michigan on Sept. 4.
While there weren’t any commitments last week for Michigan football, which extended a drought that goes back to early July with Micah Pollard, there were some positive things that happened for the Wolverines.
What’s becoming clear is that with many recruits, the on-field product in 2021 is going to play a key role in their decisions.
Winning has always been a factor in recruiting and I’m sure many of these kids want to know that Michigan is going to be what it has been under Jim Harbaugh and not the team that went 2-4, with most of the staff let go.
For one, recruits want to go to a school where they can win and reach the NFL. Michigan has proven it can send players to the pros and for the most part, under Harbaugh, the Wolverines have won a lot of games, although not enough for the fanbase.
Players also don’t want to commit to a head coach who could be on his way out and I think with all the rumors surrounding Harbaugh, a positive start would do a lot for recruiting.
Plus a number of top targets are coming to be on campus for visits in the first big game of the year against Washington, and that’s where start on our roundup.
