4-star DT Deone Walker

Another in-state priority for Michigan football in the 2022 recruiting class is Deone Walker, a four-star defensive tackle out of Detroit Cass Tech.

Of all the top targets left on the board right now for the Wolverines, they have been after Tatum and Walker the longest. Michigan was one of the first programs to offer Walker and the Wolverines have been the crystal ball leader all summer.

Walker visited campus multiple times and also has a strong relationship with current Michigan commit Mario Eugenio, who was on campus with him at the Big House BBQ.

Shortly after that though, Alabama came in with an offer, which has the possibility to shake up this entire recruitment. Before that offer, it seemed like only a matter of time before Walker would commit to the Wolverines.

The 6-foot-6, 340-pound DT who is ranked 324th overall in the 247 sports composite rankings, has talked about deciding in the fall throughout the process. Michigan is likely trying to get that timeline accelerated and if Walker announced in August, it would be huge for U-M.
