What’s next?

It doesn’t seem likely that Michigan basketball will land a five-star recruit in this class unless of course, Jett Howard moves into the five-star range which is entirely possible.

Howard continues to develop as a scoring wing and is still widely expected to be Michigan basketball’s next commitment or at least to be part of the 2022 class.

Michigan is looking at having 4-5 openings depending on who leaves for the NBA draft after this season. But it feels like the Wolverines will wind up taking four.

Jett obviously has a spot and is going to be the main target going forward. Yet the fourth spot should be interesting because there isn’t any clear target for it.

It feels like interest in Ty Rodgers has fallen off and despite some others including Michigan in their top lists recently, there isn’t a clear priority.

And it begs the question, does Michigan even need to add a fourth commitment in 2022?

The Wolverines might save that spot for an extra big or another position of need from the transfer portal. If there isn’t a sure-fire target Michigan wants in 2022, it might be better to address an immediate need than waste a scholarship on a recruit you aren’t entirely sure about.
