Michigan Football: 2022 5-star long snapper commits to Wolverines
By Zach Libby
Michigan football added a commitment on Wednesday from one of the top long snappers in the country for the class of 2022.
For all of the hits and misses that have plagued the taxing storyline for Michigan football and its 2022 recruiting class, the Wolverines can take solace knowing that another five-star prospect is heading to Ann Arbor next year.
Henry Ford II (MI) long-snapper Evan Boutorwick has verbally committed to Michigan football after announcing the decision Wednesday on Twitter. The news comes days following his visit to the annual Big House BBQ.
Boutorwick, listed at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, is ranked as a five star by Rubio Long Snapping Services and No. 10 overall nationally in his class.

Long snapper trainer Chris Rubio, who spearheads the proprietary ranking service, is the “top authority on long snappers” and oversees the decision-making for long snappers earning a spot on the All-American Game in San Antonio, Texas.
Boutorwick will be among those at the Alamo Dome on January 8 of next year.
As a five-star long snapper, Rubio Long Snapping’s rankings suggest Boutorwick could end up starting his freshman year and ultimately earn a scholarship. Long snappers aren’t scouted like other skilled positions on the major recruiting networks like 247Sports and Rivals.com.
According to The Michigan Insider reporter Brice Marich, Boutorwick has committed to play for Michigan football as a preferred walk-on.
In his video report following the Rubio Long Snapping Spring Camp in the Midwest back in March, Rubio dished out rave reviews on Boutorwick’s performance, citing the rising senior’s starting form as “gorgeous” and how fast he can “rip the ball.”
Boutorwick now joins the handfuls of talent among the specialists group for Michigan, including last season’s starter William Wagner, who appeared in all six games. Wagner was ranked 29th overall in the 2019 class among long snappers and was a five-star prospect as well.
