Michigan football is hosting its annual recruiting BBQ this weekend and there are some key recruits that will be on campus and here’s a breakdown.

When it comes to recruiting, Michigan football could use a little momentum. A few recent commitments haven’t gone the way of the Wolverines but with their recruiting BBQ this weekend in Ann Arbor, it would be a good time to turn the tide.

Of course, a commitment from Jeremy Patton this weekend would help and it seems like there is a possibility it will happen. However, with Texas pushing hard and Baylor also in the mix, it’s hard to feel confident about Michigan pulling a kid from Texas the Longhorns have prioritized.

It will be interesting to watch where Patton goes this weekend. If he does take a trip to Texas that will probably be a sign that the Horns will get his commitment on Saturday. But according to Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider (subscription required), he has made up his mind already.

Yet, even if Michigan football misses out on Patton, the Wolverines are hosting a number of key recruits this weekend and have a chance to make some real progress.

While there are recruits coming from future classes, in terms of the 2022 recruiting class, a number of key defensive line targets are coming to Ann Arbor.

Michigan needs to close with D-line recruits

One player already committed in 2022, Mario Eugenio, will be on campus and that could prove to be a really good thing with top target and close friend, Deone Walker also on campus for the BBQ.

Walker is a top priority at this point and the 6-foot-6, 340-pounder from Detroit Cass Tech has eight crystal ball projections to Michigan and the four-star defensive tackle would be a much-needed addition and with Eugenio on campus, you can bet U-M will push for a commitment.

However, they aren’t the only two 2022 defensive lineman coming to the BBQ. Isaiah Hastings, a three-star on the rise at 6-foot-4, 290 pounds is another who wil be in Ann Arbor and he’s a name to watch especially as things are probably headed in the wrong direction with Walter Nolen, who is actually heading to Texas A&M this weekend despite not including the Aggies in his recent top five.

Kenneth Grant is also taking a visit to the BBQ this weekend and he’s anther priority target who has an offer from Ohio State. He’s 6-foot-4, 335 pounds and it would be fun to see a future defensive line with Grant and Walker. Talk about mammoths.

Next. 4 recruits Michigan could flip. dark

The full list of visitors will be interesting to see and one name to watch is Amorion Walker, who is a Notre Dame commit and could be going to the BBQ too. He’s a viable flip candidate and it makes it even more likely but either way, the Wolverines need to make progress with these D-lineman.
