On Thursday afternoon, Michigan football Jim Harbaugh will take the stage for Big Ten Media Days, and here’s what to expect.

It’s always worth a watch or listen when Jim Harbaugh takes the podium and that will be the case Thursday afternoon for the Michigan football head coach.

Harbaugh has been embattled throughout his tenure as Wolverines head coach. He won 10 games three times in his first four seasons and does have four nine-win years on his resume.

However, he hasn’t beaten Ohio State; made the playoff, or won the Big Ten — even won the Big Ten East. Whether you are a supporter of Harbaugh or not, you can’t argue that he’s on the hot seat.

His “contract extension” was more about stability and the long-term ability to recruit than anything else. It doesn’t give him much security in the sense that it makes it much easier for Michigan football to move if the program doesn’t rebound from its 2-4 record in 2020.

On top of all the normal questions, such as why he can’t beat Ohio State? Harbaugh will also face questions about his coaching staff and the new schemes, as well as NIL and with the news breaking that Texas and Oklahoma could be going to the SEC, realignment might come up as well.

When Jim will be on the podium

Big Ten Media Days start Thursday morning with the commissioner, Kevin Warren and Thursday’s press conferences will end with Jim Harbaugh who will take the Podium at 12:30 PM EST.

Nebraska, Penn State, Minnesota, Maryland, Illinois, and Northwestern will also go on Thursday, with Bret Bielema returning to the league as Illinois head coach.

Ohio State, Iowa, Wisconsin, and the rest of the conference will be going on Friday. The action will be shown on the Big Ten Network both days so tune in to watch Harbaugh.

We’ll have coverage from a Michigan football perspective. Harbaugh doesn’t meet with the media often and it will be interesting to see how much he says about his new staff, expectations for this season, and even about the quarterback battle about to get underway between Cade McNamara, Alan Bowman, and J.J. McCarthy.

I’m also betting Harbaugh won’t shy away from offering his thoughts on NIL and conference realignment which will be a hot topic in the coming weeks and months.

At any rate, Big Ten Media days are back in person and we are one step back to football.
