4-star DT Derrick Shepard

We are talking about realistic flips and I think Michigan football might have a really good shot of flipping Derrick Shepard, a four-star defensive tackle from Ohio. He checks in at 6-foot-3, 295-pounds according to 247 sports and while he’s committed to Cincinnati, there seems to be an opening.

Shepard was a top priority at one time in the fall but the staff turnover really hurt the Wolverines and Shepard committed to the Bearcats. However, Marcus Freeman was a big part of that and he’s now coaching at Notre Dame.

The Wolverines still have Shaun Nua who was recruiting Shepard before and he now has a more stable situation. Michigan is pushing to get him on campus according to Sam Webb of the Michigan Insider who also offered this:

"“They are on Derrick Shepard hard, now. It’s Nua, it’s Courtney Morgan. They’re re-doubling (efforts). Hey, you have a fresh offer; not just that offer you had in the past, the past defensive staff. We want you. This staff wants you here. So, now it’s a matter of getting him up on a visit.”"

Shepard has dropped some weight and could play multiple spots on the defensive line. I’ve been really high on Derrick, who is ranked 322nd overall in the class and he would be a huge addition for the Wolverines if they could find a way to flip him.
