Michigan football has 16 commitments in its 2022 recruiting class but here are four targets the Wolverines could attempt to flip.

Things have certainly picked up for Michigan football on the recruiting trail this summer. June and July have been particularly busy with a combined nine commitments for the Wolverines.

Yet, there are still some key areas of need in this class. One position that Michigan football has yet to address is safety and while there is hope four-star, in-state recruit Dillon Tatum will be part of the 2022 class, U-M is locked in a tight battle with Michigan State for his commitment.

Recently, I wrote about how landing Tatum is so important to this class and that’s because the Wolverines are running short of options at safety, especially as multiple targets at the position start to trend away. Keon Sabb also committed to Clemson over the weekend.

So if Michigan misses on Tatum, it will either need to expand its board or look for flip attempts, which its already doing at safety. We’ll break down how realistic those opportunities are but one name you won’t find on this list is that of Domani Jackson.

I wouldn’t completely rule out Jackson flipping his commitment from USC to Michigan, but honestly, it feels like Alabama has a better shot at doing it than Michigan.

Jackson could take a visit to Ann Arbor in the fall and EJ Holland of Rivals even reported he could visit during the Ohio State game (his dad is from Ohio) but he seems really solid to USC and I don’t see that changing, just as I don’t see the Trojans flipping Will Johnson.

At any rate, here are four 2022 recruits Michigan football could flip.
