A tight end with a growing offer list visited Michigan football on Sunday and is now being projected to the Wolverines by multiple recruiting experts.

Michigan football doesn’t recruit a ton of players out of Idaho, but in the 2022 recruiting class, it’s starting to look like the Wolverines could take a blossoming tight end from the Gem state.

The player in question is tight end Colston Loveland, who is a 6-foot-5, 230-pound prospect out of Gooding, Idaho. He’s ranked 589th overall according to the 247 sports composite rankings and is 31st among tight ends.

However, in the 247 sports-specific rankings, Loveland ranks much higher and is actually ranked as a four-star recruit. He’s 13th among tight ends and has a rating of .90 compared to that of .87 in the composite rankings.

Loveland was in Ann Arbor over the weekend and the visit was a positive experience, so much so that a number of recruiting experts at Rivals have put in Futurecast picks for Loveland to wind up in Ann Arbor led by EJ Holland and Mike Farrell.

Big offer list for a three-star recruit

While Loveland is just listed as a three-star recruit by most services, outside of 247 sports, there’s no doubt that he’s starting to get momentum.

Michigan football offered the Idaho tight end back in April but since then, the offers have continued to flood in, with even Alabama and LSU jumping into the mix.

Auburn is another SEC school that offered but Loveland has been taking his visits out West, making recent stops to Colorado, Arizona, and Arizona State.

So far, Michigan is the only school he’s visited outside of the West and it seems like the Wolverines have taken control of this recruitment.

Michigan does have three-star tight end Martin Klein committed and the Wolverines have been pushing for Oscar Delp, a high-ranking four-star recruit out of Georgia, but getting him away from the Georgia Bulldogs will be tough and Loveland is a tremendous option.

Here’s the scouting report on Loveland from Brandon Huffman of 247 sports:

"“He’s a natural pass-catcher, with soft hands, good, crisp routes, and ball skills to go and high-point it. Can make people miss in the open field and routinely gets yards after the catch. Also plays defensive end, with good pass rushing ability, leverage and technique. Loveland is also a high-level basketball player and boasts a 79-inch wing-span.”"

Loveland is also projected by 247 sports as a future NFL draft pick in rounds 4-7, so the kid has obvious talent and hopefully, these experts are correct in their projections.
