Following two commitments on Saturday, Michigan football could be on the verge of adding another, at least according to some crystal ball predictions.

Saturday was a good day for Michigan football. The Wolverines needed some momentum on the recruiting trail and got it with two commitments as running back CJ Stokes and linebacker Aaron Alexander pledged to U-M.

Not every fan is going to get excited about three-star recruits committing, but there is a lot more context that goes into it. Mike Hart for instance has always done a great job of finding good players, whether it was at Eastern Michigan or Indiana, so I trust his evaluation.

And the entire defensive staff seems to really like Aaron Alexander, a low three-star kid right now but I would be shocked if that ranking didn’t make a significant jump at some point. He’s much better than where he’s ranked right now and Michigan football made a nice move to get him.

Now, the Wolverines appear to be the favorite for 2022 wide receiver/running back Dillon Bell, another three-star prospect.

Bell is out of Houston, Texas, and is 6-foot-2, 205 pounds. Michigan has been recruiting him as both a running back and wide receiver but with Stokes committing, it looks like Bell could be taking a wide receiver spot, which would be the third behind Tyler Morris and Tay’shawn Trent.

Ranked as the No. 82 prospect in the state of Texas according to the 247 sports composite rankings, Bell has started to pick up more illustrious offers and not just from Michigan — Georgia, Texas A&M, and Auburn have all extended offers recently, so Bell, who is ranked 569th overall is another recruit likely due for a jump.

His 247 sports profile says that he is going to make a decision in November, but with four crystal ball projections lodged by different recruiting experts since yesterday, including one from a Baylor Insider, it seems like that timeline could change.

Sam Webb and Steve Lorenz of The Michigan Insider, along with Brice Marich also have projected Bell to the Wolverines.

There is some definite smoke about Bell pulling the trigger on a commitment and if so, it would add even more momentum to the Wolverines’ 2022 recruiting class, one that has moved into the top 20 nationally.
