Michigan football offered Aaron Alexander following a recent visit and Saturday, the in-state linebacker committed to the Wolverines.

Prior to Saturday, the Michigan football program had gone nearly two months without a commitment. But then, the flood gates opened, and following a pledge from running back CJ Stokes earlier in the day, the Wolverines were back at it.

Aaron Alexander, a three-star prospect according to 247 sports in the 2022 class, committed to Michigan football, giving the Wolverines another in-state prospect.

Alexander is out of Belleville and the 6-foot-1, 205-pound linebacker also has a background at running back. However, he broke his thumb and started to excel defensively. He’s got a 4.4 time in the 40-yard dash and his coverage ability is impressive for a linebacker.

Alexander is ranked just 78th among athletes in the 2022 recruiting class according to 247 sports but he’s a prospect that’s due to a jump in the rankings. He’s also drawn some comparisons to Ian Gold, another former U-M linebacker that also played some safety.

Here’s what EJ Holland of Rivals wrote about Michigan’s recruitment of Alexander and his addition:

"“While Alexander isn’t a highly touted recruit, he is an intriguing prospect with a great athletic profile and speed. Alexander is actually listed as a running back, but the U-M staff loves what he brings on the defensive side of the ball. Alexander worked out for Michigan at both of its on-campus camps this month as well as its satellite camps in Big Rapids and Nashville. Michigan decided to offer after strong performances.”"

Here’s what Anderson had to say about the Wolverines, who offered on June 13 and got his commitment six days later:

"“Michigan has been my favorite college since I was a little kid,” Alexander said. “It meant the world to me when they offered. I like the family dynamic. They’ll have your back no matter what. It just seems like a great place to be.”"

What’s next for Michigan?

The Wolverines ended their dry spell with a pair of commitments on Saturday. Michigan could be on the verge of adding more and at least started picking up crystal ball projections for Dillon Bell.

Myles Pollard and Dillon Tatum are two guys who could be close to making decisions and Michigan is in the thick of it for both.

As far as in-state recruiting, adding Alexander is a positive and is a sign that there are no issues between the Michigan staff and Belleville — at least not anymore.
