Michigan Football: 3 positions that need more attention before fall
By Nick Popio
Whether it’s by the transfer portal or incoming freshmen, Michigan football’s 2021 roster still needs to be worked on before fall camp.
With only a few months before camp kicks off, the Michigan football team has some vital issues to attend to. Coming off a season that no one wants to remember brings new hope for another chance to right the ship. However, head coach Jim Harbaugh knows he has to do something drastic to ease the growing concerns of the fanbase to save his job for at least another season.
He’s got a respectable class coming in to begin their post high school careers in Ann Arbor. At least half a dozen or so of them may see action this year, but it’s hard to count on them to become reliable contributors from the time the ball hits the bat. All eyes will be glued on J.J. McCarthy especially if things go south in a hurry.
Help is on the way for the defense with today’s current class that includes Will Johnson as the box office headliner. As far as the 2021 class goes Junior Colson is considered one of the top defenders on the board in an offensive heavy class. Rayshaun Benny is another name that could make waves along the defensive line.
In the transfer portal, Michigan football has swung for the fences and has respectably secured its fair share of transfers in the process.
The Wolverines didn’t get everyone they wanted, but the forthcoming transfers have as good a chance as anyone to crack the lineup and bring an impactful punch to certain areas of the roster.
Here are three positions in particular that need to be addressed before next season.
