Dug McDaniel

At one point, McDaniel was clearly the top target for Michigan basketball at point guard in the 2022 class and until recently, that interest seemed to cool.

However, it seems like it could be picking back up again. McDaniel is going to take a visit to Ann Arbor this month and that could be a turning point in his recruitment. He also just picked up a crystal ball projection to the Wolverines from Jeff Ermann who covers Maryland.

McDaniel is from the DMV and it’s interesting that he now has a crystal ball pick to Michigan at the same time as Trimble.

You have to wonder who the Wolverines prefer at the position? McDaniel doesn’t shoot the ball as well as Bradley or Trimble, but he’s a proven playmaker, even at 5-foot-9.

I highly doubt Michigan would offer a first-come, first-serve type of situation where the first player to commit gets the spot unless there truly is little difference from a scouting perspective.

We should learn a lot from these visits and right now, it’s hard to say which recruit is most likely to land at U-M, only that I’d bet on Michigan getting one of the three.
