Michigan basketball picked up a crystal ball projection for 2022 four-star power forward Ty Rodgers.

One of the top players in the state of Michigan in the class of 2022, could be playing for Michigan basketball if a recent crystal ball prediction is correct.

Four-star forward Ty Rodgers, who is ranked in the top 50 of the 247 sports composite rankings for the 2022 class, picked up a crystal ball prediction from Brice Marich of the Michigan Insider (subscription required) just a few days ago.

Rodgers would be a key addition to the 2022 recruiting class for the Wolverines. There are some other targets that obviously rank higher but his position versatility is important as a guy who could play the 3/4 for the Wolverines.

Rodgers would be a great fit for Michigan basketball

The thing I love about Rodgers is the way he can finish inside, but also shoot the ball from deep. His Hudl profile lists him as a shooting guard, point guard, small forward, and power forward.

He was listed at 6-foot-4 but is now listed at 6-foot-7 by 247 sports. He’s probably best suited to play the three in college, however, he could also play the four and is used to play inside.

Michigan basketball has felt like the favorite and even though he’s taking visits to UConn and Purdue, Chris Balas of The Wolverine says Syracuse is a team to watch. U-M will also get a visit this week from Rodgers.

Rodgers didn’t mention Syracuse as one of the programs recruiting him the hardest lately, but he did mention Michigan State and it seems the Spartans are trying to get into the mix.

It makes sense because Rodgers is the third-ranked player in the state of Michigan. He’s a tough kid, has played as a post guy, and on the wing in high school. He can also shoot the ball and is a strong finisher.

Rodgers still has official visits he could take and it will be interesting to see if he ends up taking one to Michigan State.

At any rate, it feels like Michigan basketball is still the favorite. Juwan Howard and the staff have made him a top priority and it wouldn’t shock me if more crystal ball projections started coming in after he visits Ann Arbor.
