Daxton Hill, DB

A former five-star recruit, Daxton Hill is arguably the best player on the team entering the 2021 season.  Not only was Hill a five-star recruit, but he was also the top-ranked safety, and a top-15 recruit overall in the 2019 class, according to 247Sports.

Over the course of his two years with Michigan football, Hill has recorded 81 total tackles, two interceptions, and seven passes defended, along with two fumble recoveries.

These numbers aren’t bad for the average Big Ten safety, however, Hill is not an average safety.

Hill still has a lot of work to do to live up to his projection of first-round draft pick given to him by 247Sports back in 2018.  The Tulsa, Oklahoma native hasn’t necessarily underperformed in his time at Michigan, but expectations should be much higher, especially for a defensive back under Don Brown’s system.

Hill is undoubtedly one of the fastest players in all of college football and is commonly spoken of by the coaches as one of the best players on the 2021 roster.

It will be interesting to see how Daxton and the rest of the defense adapt to Mike Macdonald’s new defensive system, but a breakout year should be expected out of Daxton Hill.
