Akayleb Evans, CB Tulsa

Right now, if Michigan football doesn’t add anyone else in the secondary, it looks like the Wolverines will have the exact same starters they did last season.

That means Vincent Gray and Gemon Green at corner, as well as Daxton Hill and Brad Hawkins at safety. There are others in the mix but there’s no guarantee they will crack the lineup. These guys could improve and Daxton Hill showed out during the spring.

However, depth is always needed and Akayleb Evans is one of the hottest names in the portal right now because he has the chance to be an impact player.

Illinois just jumped in with an offer. Notre Dame and Nebraska have offered Evans too. Minnesota is another Big Ten team in the mix and Ohio State is even sniffing around.

Michigan hasn’t but it should. Evans is 6-foot-2 and known as a solid run defender. He could certainly see time on the outside or even in the slot when Hill isn’t there. He’s got over 80 career tackles and 10 pass breakups.

Evans is also viewed as a guy who could get drafted next year and adding a player of that caliber to the secondary seems like a no-brainer for the Wolverines.
