Michigan football fans got some good news on Thursday, as the Governor of the state announced that sporting events could return to full capacity on June 1.

Aaron McMann, who covers Michigan for MLive, tweeted this:

"“Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, speaking in Midland, says capacity at outdoor stadiums in Michigan can return to 100% on June 1. In other words, expect a full Big House this fall.”"

This is obviously great news for Michigan fans for a lot of reasons. For one, season ticket holders and fans will be able to watch their beloved Wolverines in person once again — something they didn’t get to do last season due to COVID-19.

Fans were already expected back at the Big House, it’s just the number that we don’t know. This obviously isn’t official and we’ll have to see what the University says before we know for sure.

It was great to have some football last season, having fans back at full capacity will make it really feel like football again, especially at the Big House, which seats more than 110,000.

At this point, saying fans are expected back is probably the safest way to put it. Things can change quickly and you never know what might happen.

But as long as things keep going well with the pandemic, there will be an even greater sense of normalcy this fall and a full Michigan Stadium is something all U-M fans have been looking forward to.

Another night game for Michigan football

Also this week, we learned when Michigan football and Washington would play. The Wolverines are set to host the Huskies during the second week of the season and the game will be played at 7:30 PM EST.

This will be the 10th night game Michigan football has played at home in its history and the first since taking on Notre Dame in 2019. The Wolverines are 7-2 in these games and Rivals put together a great look at each of them.

The game will be nationally televised on ABC and there’s a chance it could even wind up being featured on College Gameday.

Another announcement about the 2021 game schedule is that the Wolverines will play Ohio State on November 27th at Noon EST.

Fox Sports will carry the game but having it back at its traditional time is really going to make things feel back to normal.

The Game will be played in Michigan for the second straight game since last year’s matchup in Columbus was canceled.
