Michigan basketball offered Seth Trimble earlier this week and after he set up a visit, the first crystal ball prediction came in for the Wolverines.

The relationship between Michigan basketball and Seth Trimble has been growing for months and it culminated with an offer by the Wolverines earlier this week.

It was clear, Trimble was waiting for the offer, telling 247 sports that “It brought a smile to his face” after Juwan Howard finally offered the point guard in the class of 2022.

Despite a growing offer list that includes Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana, Michigan was thought by many to be the favorite, as long as U-M actually entered the mix with an offer.

It’s significant too because it changes the dynamic of point guard recruiting in the class of 2022. Dug McDaniel was expected to be and was the top target for a long time.

However, Trimble, who is 6-foot-3 and ranked 78th overall in 2022 according to the 247 sports composite rankings, has been garnering a lot of favor in the Midwest, so his U-M offer was only a matter of time.

What’s more is that The Michigan Insider reported, the day following the offer, that Trimble was going to take a visit to Michigan basketball.

Now, Trimble is starting to get crystal ball predictions to Michigan and the first came in from Evan Flood, who covers Wisconsin for 247 sports and projected Trimble to U-M with a confidence level of six out of 10.

That prediction is fairly significant since Trimble is from Wisconsin and is actually the top-ranked player in the state of the 2022 cycle.

This will put more pressure on the 5-foot-9 McDaniel, who is also supposed to take a visit to Michigan. He’s a really good option too, however, he doesn’t shoot the ball as well as Trimble does and it seems like Trimble is the preference at this point.

One advantage is that he could play off the ball too. Some view him as more of a combo guard. Yet, he looks like a point guard to me, and he’s got more defensive abilities than McDaniel.

Yet, the visit and the crystal ball don’t make Trimble a lock to commit to Michigan. North Carolina and new head coach Hubert Davis have shown interest and his recruitment is really starting to take off. USC is another program in the mix, along with some in the Big Ten.

Michigan’s offer means something and right now, Trimble is my pick to be the Wolverines point guard signee in 2022, it’s just not a wrap.
