Michigan Football: Where final mocks are projecting Kwity Paye
Draft day has finally arrived for Kwity Paye and other former Michigan football players. Check out where Paye is getting projected as the draft is just hours away.
The NFL draft is a time of celebration for football fans across the country. We get to watch our favorite college players find new homes and also, NFL fans get new hope for the future, at least if things work out the way they want.
The draft is always unpredictable and when it comes to Michigan football‘s Kwity Paye, putting a finger on exactly where he’ll be selected tonight isn’t all that easy.
Most agree that he’s among the best pass rushers in the NFL draft, so there’s a very, very good chance that Paye goes in the first round. But how early?
Dane Brugler of The Athletic (subscription required) projected Paye to the New York Giants at the 11th pick in his final mock draft on Thursday morning. That’s been a popular landing spot for Paye but in another mock draft by CBS Sports, Paye falls to No. 21 overall and Indianapolis.
Most teams in need of pass-rush help have been connected to Paye. Teams like the Giants, Cowboys, and Vikings, among others. Another wildcard could be a team moving up for Paye — someone like Baltimore that desperately needs pass-rush help.
Regardless, the consensus is that Paye will become the sixth first-round pick of the Jim Harbaugh era at Michigan. Will there be a seventh? It’s not looking that way.
Jalen Mayfield being projected in round two
Mayfield, the offensive tackle, has the best chance of getting picked Thursday night in the first round outside of Paye.

It wasn’t that long ago that you saw Mayfield’s name in a number of first-round mock drafts. Now, he’s going in the second round which is where Brugler has him going.
It’s up in the air whether Mayfield will be a guard or tackle in the NFL and teams generally don’t take offensive guards in the first round of the draft.
But, if some team believes he can project to being a left tackle in the future or even just a really good right tackle, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him go late round one.
This year’s tackle class is just really deep, which is also pushing Mayfield down the board.
Nico Collins has a shot of getting drafted on day two as well, along with possibly Cam McGrone and Ambry Thomas, two others who have been mentioned as top-100 type players in this draft class.
All in all, I expect Michigan to have at least seven players drafted, with the possibility that as many as 10 hear their name called over the weekend.
