The 2021 NFL draft is just days away and here’s where some former Michigan football players are going in the latest mock drafts.

As we move closer and closer to the 2021 NFL draft, it’s starting to look like Michigan football might have just one player selected Thursday night in the first round.

At this point, if you believe the mock drafts, which you should only to a point, Kwity Paye doesn’t have to worry about being a first-round pick.

In the latest mock draft from CBS Sports, Paye is going 14th to the Minnesota Vikings, which has been a popular destination since the Vikings could really use a pass rusher.

Here’s what Patrik Walker of CBS wrote about his projected pick:

"“It’s unknown what happens next for Danielle Hunter regarding his looming return in 2021, and Paye can enter the mix and either take pressure off of Hunter or become the premier pass rusher in Minnesota. There are others to consider here, but Paye feels like the right call.”"

The New York Giants have been another popular landing spot for Paye and that’s where he went in this seven-round mock draft from NFL.com.

The Vikings and Giants are both logical destinations but another team that could be a fit is the Dallas Cowboys, who will be looking to upgrade their defense.

It’s possible they select a cornerback and that will depend on how things play out, but if Dallas really wants an elite pass rusher, Paye could be its pick.

Jalen Mayfield is falling

On the other end of the spectrum, Jalen Mayfield is looking more and more like a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft.

The former Michigan football standout saw limited action last season due to injury and the Wolverines only played six games total anyway. He’s got talent and he had the really good game against Chase Young in 2019, but he hasn’t played a ton of football.

Neither mock draft has Mayfield going in the first round. NFL.com’s mock draft has Mayfield going in the second round to the Chiefs at No. 58.

That would be a smart move for KC because even though the Chiefs added a bunch of offensive linemen, including Orlando Brown in a trade this week, they don’t have many locked up long-term and Mayfield could start inside or outside.

Some see him as a guard and others see him as a tackle. Either way, he should be a solid NFL player but guards don’t usually go in the first round and I don’t know that many teams feel sure enough about Mayfield to select him that early.
