Michigan football fans were promised some good recruiting news on Tuesday and Tyler Morris delivered committing to the Wolverines in the class of 2022.

Just a few days ago, Michigan football lost the commitment of a wide receiver who was part of its 2021 class in Xavier Worthy.

Now, just a few days later, Michigan fans can celebrate the commitment of another top-100 wide receiver — this one in the class of 2022 as Tyler Morris committed on Tuesday.

Morris who is ranked as the No. 80 overall recruit in the 247 sports composite rankings and as a four-star wide receiver, announced his decision on Tuesday via Twitter, delivering on the prediction of five-star cornerback Will Johnson who said good news was coming Monday.

Notre Dame was the biggest threat for Morris who is out of Bolingbrook, Illinois, and played at the same school as J.J. McCarthy before the five-star quarterback transferred to IMG Academy.

Morris had a long offer list that included a number of elite programs. Florida and Penn State were also in the mix but the Wolverines won out in the end.

What Morris means to the 2022 class

It’s not an exaggeration to say this is a huge commitment for Michigan football. Morris is the 10th-rated wide receiver in the 2022 class and at 6-foot, he could easily develop into a top target on the outside for McCarthy. The fact that the two have previous chemistry is positive too.

Here’s his scouting report from Allen Trieu of 247 sports:

"“Fluid, loose-hipped, and that helps him both after the catch and as a route runner. Shows good instincts for finding space as a route runner. Can be effective on jet sweeps and screens. Has to add some bulk and get stronger still. Can do so many things for an offense that it is hard to imagine scenarios where he will not be productive in college because he can of his versatility.”"

The addition of Morris was even more important after Michigan missed out on Worthy. For one, it will help add some much-needed momentum in recruiting and also adds an elite receiver back into the pipeline.

The Wolverines still need to probably add two more wideouts in the class of 2022. Kaleb Brown and Darius Clemons would be very good candidates.

At the end of the day, it stings to lose Worthy because this pairing could have been really dynamic, but the addition of Morris makes it hurt a lot less.
